Why Does Good Eyesight Need More Fish Oil?

Fish oil contains what are called the Omega3 essential fatty acids. There’s a number of Omega3 essential fatty acids, however DHA and EPA are by far the most important of these, though not the only ones.

And although these 2 essential fatty acids are commonly found in fish they are not as commonly found in other foods. They can be found in small quantities in some other foods but not many.

Some decades ago scientists began to realise that communities of people, like the Eskimos, who eat large amounts of fish, didn’t seem to suffer from the same rate of many of the lifestyle diseases that so many of us in the western world suffer from.

Heart disease in particular seemed to be so much less prevalent in communities of people who ate plenty of fish.

And so the scientists decided to study this, and discovered that the Omega3 fatty acids found in fish were essential to good health, and that we in the West didn’t eat enough fish, and consequently didn’t get enough Omega3 fats.

But what does all this have to do with your eyes? Just this. DHA makes up a large component of the retina of your eyes, and DHA is one of the Omega3 fats.

Can You Use Fish Oil For Arthritis?

If you’re wondering whether you can use fish oil for arthritis, the answer is that it depends – on what type of arthritis and how definite you need the answer to be.

Before I explain what I mean, I want to quickly review what fish oil is so our discussion of fish oil for arthritis will be in perspective.

Fish oil is, of course, oil that has been extracted from fish.  But not just any fish.  Fish oil with health benefits comes from cold-water fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, lake trout, herring, halibut, sardines and hoki.

Here’s a little know fact: although they get all the credit, these cold-water fish do not produce any Omega 3 fatty acids, the component of fish oil that has the health benefits.  Instead they accumulate them by consuming the microalgae that actually produce the fatty acids.  Interesting, huh?

As I just said, the component of fish oil that makes it healthy is Omega 3.  Omega 3s are essential fatty acids (EFA).  This means they are necessary for our health, but we cannot produce them.  We must take in Omega 3 through our diet or by taking a supplement.

The Benefits of an Anti Inflammation Diet Using Omega 3 DHA Fish Oil

An anti inflammation diet will have little chance of succeeding without the most powerful and natural anti-inflammatory substance known – omega 3 fish oil. Here’s how it works for you and what to look for to ensure you get the maximum benefits.

Inflammation in the body is responsible for thousands of premature deaths every year as it has no symptoms and can strike at any time.

As our diets tend to be poor these days with the low nutritional value of the food we consume, taking a daily fish oil supplement can help to put the body back in balance and significantly reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes.

It is also estimated that well over 85% of the population is lacking in omega 3 as it only comes from our diet and most fish today contains many toxins like mercury and lead and low levels of omega 3 due to the farming practices.

These oils help your anti inflammation diet by converting the main omega 3 fatty acid, DHA, into a chemical called Resolvin D2 which is an extremely powerful anti-inflammatory substance.

It also helps to prevent the platelets in the blood from sticking together and forming clots to further reduce the risk of strokes.
