We know exercise is supposed to be healthy but many people experience pain after an intense workout. If this happens to you there’s a great chance you are suffering from delayed-onset muscle soreness or DOMS.

DOMS is more common than you may think and it can strike anyone regardless of age, gender or fitness. The muscle pain, soreness and stiffness that accompany this condition are usually felt 12 to 48 hours after the beginning of a new exercise program, a change in sports activities or a bit too much exercise.

DOMS typically occurs when you haven’t exercised for some time or you’re working muscles that haven’t been worked in a while.
